What I have learnt:
The purpose of music videos is to gain new audiences. For example, the Thriller music video by Micheal Jackson is a short film as it was a new style for that generation in the 80’s. You can get different genres (french word for type) for example if there is more than one style with in then this is considered Synergy or hybrid, if there is two styles this called crossover genre and if there is references to other tv programmes or film then this is intertextualiy. The last genre is iconography this is when it is a typical expection for the film or music video for example horror: death, blood and victim chase sequence is all expected within this cartogry.
I also learnt that music videos will use MESC.FX, (mesenscene, editing, camera and specual effects) this comes across in any form of social media. For example in the Snoop Dog music video he used a game which was popular at the moment in time, Pokemon. This included the animation and effects all in this video while using the dialogue as his lyrics in the box.
